Field work in the zoo Upie Jardin des Oiseaux

The team Avineck collected data on the biomechanics of the neck in birds. The aim of this project is to better understand the kinematics of their suspended locomotion.

Parrots are very skillful climbers, but we still lack a detailed understanding of the biomechanics of their neck during this kind of locomotion. In order to collect quantitative data, we visited our collaborators at the zoo Upie Jardin des Oiseaux. It was a highly successful stay!

A huge THANK YOU to our collaborators at the zoo Upie Jardin des Oiseaux for this great collaboration! We are particularly grateful to our parrot "Gabi" and her handler Christelle and the zoo director Alexandre!
