THESIS / Bio-inspired envelopes: towards multi-regulation

Biomimetics, relying on the transfer of strategies from biology to technology, is an emerging research area in the field of building construction. Living organisms have developed adaptation strategies for thermal comfort conservation, air exchange, water and light management, based on homeostasis and without supply of non-renewable energy or materials. In this vein, this thesis will give an integrative taxonomy of living envelops in nature. In partnership with the CEEBIOS and the industrial Vicat, concrete case of study will explore the taxonomy and its potential for buildings multi-regulation.

Keywords: biomimetics, multi-regulation, adaptive envelops
