The Thematic Workshop 2019 to be held at the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI) takes place from April 8-12, 2019 in Paris.

The Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI) is a French educational institution that offers interdisciplinary research-based study, and awards a bachelor’s and master’s degree in interdisciplinary approaches to life sciences. Each year there are Thematic Workshops that aim to create a discussion and exchange amongst PhD and master’s students as well as the CRI community.

The topic of the first day is “Evolution across scales” and Funevol PhD student Gregoire Boulinguez-Ambroise organized to invite two researchers of the FunEvol team to speak about their work at this event.

Funevol Postdoc Pauline Provini will speak about "From bird take-off to fish feeding". She will provide interesting insights into the biomechanics of animals using motion data from in vivo X-ray videos (XROMM).

Funevol Postdoc Christine Böhmer will present the newest results on the functional morphology of the neck in birds and how the biological results serve to prototype a bioinspired robot arm: "The neck of birds, an arm for robots". The research is part of the collaborative work within the ANR-funded project “Avineck” (Project coordinator: Prof. Anick Abourachid).

Looking forward to an inspiring day at the CRI Paris!
