Researches at MECADEV

Researches of the UMR 7179 "Adaptive Mechanisms & evolution" are focused on the biology of integrated systems, the evolution ofbiodiversity and the biology of conservation. The main axis concerns functional approaches of adaptive mechanis s and their limits face to natural or anthropic environmental changes, in an evolutionary perspective. Through studies in situ and experimental studies ex situ, main objectives are:

  • populations and meta-populations dynamics in relation to habitats changes (temperate and tropical ecosystems)

  • functional behavioural and physiological approaches of adaptive mechanisms and their limits

  • relationships between structure-function-phylogeny and potentialities

Current researches allow to understand the mechanisms that contribute to the integrity of biodiversity and its vulnerability. They lead also to technological applied developments and bring important information for biodiversity conservation.
